Biography
Hey there! I’m Arshian, a PhD student at the University of West London, working under the supervision of Professor Massoud Zolgharni and Dr Nasim Dadashi Serej. My research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence for healthcare, deep learning, computer vision and medical imaging. My previous work was based on deep learning in echocardiography, covering tasks such as view classification of single and dual echocardiographic views using transfer learning for downstream AI-based image quality assessment tasks.
I have also contributed to the development of EchoForge, a deep learning model library designed to centralise and share AI models through GitHub for broader research and developer use. My role has involved curating and deploying segmentation models, building TensorFlow evaluation pipelines across diverse echocardiography datasets, benchmarking performance for robustness and generalisability, and improving documentation, repository structure, and workflow standardisation to support reproducibility and open-source adoption.
In addition to this, I have also developed machine learning models to predict mental health and depression risk using psychological and lifestyle data, reflecting my broader interest in creating AI systems that can support early intervention and improve health outcomes.
My technical background is centred around Python, with experience in TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, and OpenCV for building and evaluating deep learning models. I enjoy combining research, experimentation, and practical implementation to develop systems that are not only technically strong, but also clinically relevant.
I am always happy to connect, exchange ideas, and collaborate on exciting research projects! My long-term goal is to contribute to the advancement of intelligent medical imaging systems that are robust, explainable, and capable of improving patient care.
