Entry requirements for PhD positions
- MSc degree with Merit or above or equivalent postgraduate or research experience.
- A strong academic record with good ability in analytical methods and programming.
- International applicants: IELTS score of 6.5+ (no element under 6.0), or a degree obtained in the UK.
Available PhD projects
The specific topics of research change according to our research strategy, but available projects will be consistent with the ones presented above. All projects involve considerable interaction with other research group members. The PhD students working on multidisciplinary research projects are supported by a sizeable supervisory team with subject specialist knowledge.

Scholarships
Scholarships are available for PhD research positions for Home/UK students only.
PhD programmes are funded for a 3-year period, and can start in February, May, and September each year. Funding includes bursaries at the standard rate and paid registration fees.
- Full-time: Stipend of £22,000 per year (tax-free), tuition fees waived, duration: 3 years
- Part-time: Stipend of £11,000 per year (tax-free), tuition fees waived, duration: 6 years
